Look Again!
Thought-provoking artwork that makes people question the norm
Artwork featuring realistic objects painted directly onto everyday surfaces using acrylics. The series uses optical illusion and visual trickery to invite viewers to question the status quo. It is rooted in my own experience of having an identity that doesn’t fit dominant ideologies and a deep skepticism toward what is considered “normal.”
Adaptations
The artwork has been adapted into multiple media, including a picture book, TV segments, and advertising. The picture book “Look Again!” (『じゃない!』) has sold over 100,000 copies and received multiple awards, including the Kenbuchi Ehon no Sato Award. The same concept was also used in a TV commercial for TOYOBO, in which I appeared as the artist. The campaign was well received and was honored with the Nikkei Science Award in Japan.
